Cordstrap vs Cordlash: Composite Strapping or Woven Lashing?

"Cordstrap" and "Cordlash" sound almost the same, and both secure cargo — so they're constantly mixed up when it's time to order. But they do two different jobs. Cordstrap composite strapping bundles and unitises a load; Cordlash woven lashing ties a load down to the transport unit. This guide explains each, the strengths available, and how to pick the right one.

Standard Cordstrap: composite (CC) strapping

Cordstrap composite strapping — the "CC" range — is a GL-certified composite polyester strap that replaces steel banding for bundling, unitising and palletising. Together with a galvanised steel buckle it holds a strong, reliable joint, and because it's non-abrasive it won't damage goods or rust like steel. It's the everyday choice for closing and securing loads around the product itself.

The range steps up in strength (rated in daN) as your load gets heavier:

Cordlash: woven lashing

Cordlash is a woven polyester lashing belt that does a different job — it secures cargo to the container, flat rack, railcar or ship so the whole load can't shift in transit. It runs to much higher strengths than composite strapping (from 4,000 daN up to 20,000 daN) and is the right tool for tying down heavy or high-value freight. The quick answer

If you're bundling, unitising or palletising a load — or replacing steel banding — you want Cordstrap CC composite strapping, sized from CC55 for light work up to CC105 for heavy-duty. If you're securing cargo inside a container or on a flat rack so it can't move in transit, you want Cordlash woven lashing. Many exporters use both: strapping to unitise the pallet, lashing to secure it in the container. Always pair each with its matching buckle.
